- Face masks do not constitute medical PPE nor are they a replacement for normal precautionary hygiene measures such as hand washing.
- Face masks should never be touched when wearing them – fidgeting with the mask repeatedly is strongly discouraged as it is important to avoid touching your face.
- Sanitize your hands before fitting and removing the face mask.
- Do not lower the face mask when speaking, coughing, or sneezing and maintain a proper social distance of 1.5m from other people.
- The inner side of the face mask should not be touched with hands.
- Face masks should cover your nose and mouth entirely.
- Wash fabric face masks with soap and water, disinfected and iron when dry.
- Children should always be supervised when using a cloth mask.
- Medically approved masks, not cloth masks, should be used by health workers when working in a health care environment.
